The Arts Poole (TAP)

The Arts Poole (otherwise known as TAP) is an artist-led, not-for-profit, arts organization dedicated to revitalizing the arts scene and developing the creative industries sector in Poole and the surrounding area. We hold monthly networking meetings which allow those interested in any area of art or music to meet in a relaxed, friendly and creative atmosphere. We also put on a monthly jamming evening and various special events.

art in parkWe see our primary role as an umbrella organization, supporting arts entrepreneurs, connecting up the local arts scene and encouraging those interested in the arts in Poole to participate in arts events. Find out more about us.

We believe that artists must play their part in raising the profile of the arts in Poole if we are to create a more dynamic arts scene. We therefore offer a network and support system for artists with ideas for projects and the enthusiasm to make them happen.

This website is designed to be a central and comprehensive resource for those interested in the arts in Poole. It has sections for makers and viewers of art, and keeps you abreast of local arts news.

Monthly networking meetings

Our monthly networking meetings attract professional and amateur artists and musicians, as well as those who simply have an interest in the arts. We realise that everyone must start somewhere and we encourage an atmosphere where everyone can mix easily.

We have a theme to each evening - a speaker, creative activity or performance - and design our programme to cover a wide range of different art forms.

We hold our meetings at the Blue Boar pub in Old Town Poole on the 1st Thursday in each month (except January when it is on the 2nd Thursday). See our events page for more details.

Freeplay

freeplayFreeplay is The Arts Poole's monthly jamming session for musicians, vocalists and poets. Unlike the many open-mic nights in the area, this event encourages musicians to experiment together without the pressure of an audience.

Whether you are an experienced or developing musician, we vary the evening so everybody can play their part. We even have a few basic percussion instruments for those just beginning their musical adventure to join in with.

Freeplay takes place on the 3rd Tuesday each month at the King Charles Inn in Poole Old Town. We use its atmospheric, medieval hall but people are free to break away and plan in other parts of the pub (for example on their piano). Ultimately we aim to fill the whole pub with musicians and other creatives. Why not come along and help us make this happen? See our events page for more details.
